1149 Volga is a main belt asteroid orbiting the Sun. Approximately 56 kilometers in diameter, it makes a revolution around the Sun once every 5 years. It completes one rotation once every 28 hours. It was discovered by Evgenii Fedorovich Skvortsov at Simeiz Observatory on August 1, 1929.[1] It is named after the Volga River, the largest river in Europe and one of the principal ones of Russia. The name was proposed by the Institute of Theoretical Astronomy in Leningrad. The provisional designation was 1929 PF.[2]
